Sat. March 20
GLOBAL DAY OF PROTEST ON THE
ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY
OF THE IRAQ WAR
MISSISSAUGA
10 am to Noon
Public Square (Southeast
corner
of Hurontario and Dundas)
Momentum is building around the world for the Global Day of
Action
against War and
Occupation on March 20th, the one-year anniversary of
the
U.S. bombing and invasion of Iraq.
On that day, people on every continent will take to the streets.
Participate in a demonstration in Mississauga calling for:
An end to the occupation of Iraq
Freedom for Palestine
Canadian troops out of Afghanistan
Defense of everyone's civil liberties
March 20 will be the first time the world's "other superpower,"
as
The New York Times described the anti-war movement, will take center
stage
since February 15, 2003 when more than 15 million people across the
globe
expressed their opposition to the looming war on Iraq. Many of us
in the GTA west are in the habit of going into Toronto to participate
in
progressive activities. But it is important to build activity here, in
the ‘‘905’’ area, to show that many in these communities stand for
peace
and social justice,
and against the US war drive.
MCPJ is organizing a rally and march in Mississauga. To do so,
all
those groups and individuals interested in building such an event
should
come together to discuss the shape it will take. Please send this
call out far and wide, and let us know if you can make it, or would
like
to participate in March 20 organizing –– hope to
see you there!
Raise your voices to stop the racist
attacks on civil liberties at home.
Then join us for the Carvan to Toronto
to protests there in the afternoon.
