¹²Emacs popped up a window telling me this. My launch emacs menu item is emacs -geometry 81x35+10+34 -fn 9x15 &. This controls the size of the screen, and it selects a nice font. Installing emacs-gtk+x11 acutally had no effect on the behavour. Launching emacs-lucid did give me a nice GUI interace.
