Subsections

Hardware

This computer was bought in March 2009 from Advantage Computers, a small shop around the corner from where I live. I bought the computer ``naked'', without its operating system.

CPU

Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz - 2MB L2 Cache (LGA 775)

Motherboard

Asus P5GC-MS/1333. This has a video card, a sound card and a network card built into it.

Memory

Kingston 2.0GB DDR2 (677MHz - PC5300)

Video Card

Built into the motherboard

External Drives

USB and 3-1/2 Floppy module. It has slots for a regular USB connector, and for a whole bunch of floppy cards, including the SDHC card I have for my digital camera.

This is my third one. My computer seems to be eating these things.

Hard Drives

Seagate Barracoda LP 2000GB SATA

Western Digital 500GB (7200RPM SATA 16MB) U150

Case

ATX-L8083. It is a cool looking black case.

Power Supply

Coolmax model V-400. This is an 80mm ATX V2.01 power supply with 400W power. My computers seem to eat power supplies. This is my second one for this computer.

CDs and DVDs

LG (GH22N P20) BLACK 1 DVD RW 22X IDE drive

IDE Controller

Built into the motherboard.

SATA Controller

Built into the motherboard.

Sound Card

Built into the motherboard.

Modem

U.S. Robotics external 56K Faxmodem, model number 5686E. The motherboard has no ISA port, so my old ISA modem no longer works.

Keyboard and Mouse

I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse which plugs into a USB port.

Monitor

Samsung SyncMaster P2250. The resolution is 1920X1080. It works perfectly. I did find that I needed the correct cable for it. The VGA cables do not provide the high resolution.

I had troubles getting high screen resolution on my old Samsung 750S. The new OS did not support the old monitor.

Scanner

Epson Perfection V350 Photo. This is supported by xsane, and by Epson's (Avasys') iscan.
