A 100% Independant
Consulting Service

Churches have one of two types of sound systems. One type of system competes with a room —undermining the worship service. Feedback, deadspots, distortion and poor intelligibility are unwanted sound effects that church audiences shouldn't be assaulted with. These systems are designed and installed with good intentions and there are many variations of them.
The other type of sound system is one that compliments the room and there are many variations of them too. However, when a church has room problems, no sound system can function beyond the performance of the worship space.  Sadly, many churches are replacing well designed sound systems with the latest and greatest technology in hopes the next sound system will be better - only to be disappointed after the novelty wears out.
Good sound in a church requires a foundation and that foundation begins with acoustics.  Ignoring acoustics condemns every sound system to a life of mediocrity and constant upgrading that often costs much more than the cost of fixing the room.  According to statistics, over 85% of churches have 3 or more major acoustical problems.  New churches are not doing any better. Many people are buying into a myth that suggests that fixing the room latter is cheaper or better.
If your having problems with hearing or you are not enjoying your worship services, you have come to the right place.  Isn’t it time to get your church out of the sound rut?

If you want your church evaluated for it's acoustical performance abilities and sound system compatibility, we can do the analysis to come up with solutions as needed that works for the sanctuary and redesign the sound system as required with solutions that are affordable and guaranteed (if we supervise the changes to the sound system and acoustics.)

For assistance, please send an email asking for our PDF information file package that will be emailed to you. If we can be of service to you, please call.

Buying more than one sound system? Are you on your 3rd sound system and still not happy?
  • The average Church buys four sound systems. The first sound system is often installed by the lowest bidder when a church is built.
  • The second system is often installed by the local "Expert", who is often a sincere, hard working and a well meaning church member who is an audio hobbyist (with the books and with the purest of intentions,) or from a local music or electronics store.
  • The third sound system is often designed, engineered and installed by a professional audio company who does all types of sound systems, earning the title of "audio expert".
  • The fourth and final system is the system that becomes the permanent system that will not be redesigned ever again. This system will last the life time of the church building and will have equipment upgrades as equipment fails due to age, wear and tear or as the ministry expands.
  • These final systems are designed and installed by the few who have a true understanding of the peculiar audio and acoustical needs of a church. These people go to great lengths to educate the members of the church before a proposal is even submitted.

How many times is your Architect going to redesign your church? How much money will your church save if construction can start 2 to 8 months sooner? Is your church planning being delayed because the Architect and Church Board members are second guessing themselves hoping they can get the acoustics right? Would your church hire a consultant if there was zero impact in the cost of a project?

Myth Busted - Did you know that the average Church designed and built around acoustics cost less to build and maintain than churches built without acoustics

Mobile Testing Lab

JdB Sound Acoustics has a Mobile Testing Lab. The Lab has all of the equipment to do detailed and accurate acoustical and sound system testing. Since the lab is also living quarters for the crew we can stay on site longer, take more time to interview people and have time to test to see if our recommendations will work before we leave. When you get your report, you will get answers that are backed up with with our special on site testing techniques. We don't leave until we have verifiable answers to your problems. This service is available only to churches and their associated facilities.

____________________________Sherbrooke

The lab is equipped with:

--- a portable MLSSA Audio and Acoustical Test System,
--- Smaart acoustical and audio testing program
--- Smaart Live for sound system tuning and processor setups.
--- Tannoy Reference Test Speaker,

--- Brüel & Kjær test microphones and
--- Symetrix Pre Amps
--- ready to test any church up to 2 million cubic feet (a 10,000 seat church.)
Other tools include:
--- modeling software
--- rendering software

--- prediction software
--- CAD Software

When we visiting a church that is pre planning for a new building, we often will use the sound lab as a resource center and as a hotel on wheels. With the Lab on site, we can create detailed reports that can be followed for building committee, Architects, engineers and audio contractors to move the project forward rather than having endless delay where people are second guessing themselves. The Lab costs less to use for travel than any other form of transportation.

Since the Lab went into service in 2002, it has been used at over 60 churches across Canada and the USA. For churches that are pressed for time, we have reports for sound and acoustics ready within 6 days or less instead of 30 to 60 days.

Many churches think that consulting is a luxury or for large churches. We have been making every effort to keep our services affordable for churches as small as 150 seating. Before the Lab, it often took several trips to complete our work. Introductory visits, the forensic study and room/audio system testing, analysis of the testing, proofing the test results and presentation of the report. For any project it takes 3 to 6 visits which is added to the consulting fee. With the mobile lab we usually only have to go to a church only once to provide a report with the recommendations needed to solve the problems the church is having. With fewer trips to each church we have been able to adjust our fees for smaller churches to afford a service like ours - even with the current high cost of fuel.

Hi,  If you have read down to here, perhaps you would like to know the cost of doing typical acoustical repairs. While we do work on projects that do require high cost solutions, we also have many low cost problem solvers too.

Here are some examples of our better known projects For each project the worship space was changed from a hostile non musical and low intelligibility space to a high quality space that has an almost ideal balance of musical performance with great speech intelligibility with or without a sound system

1997 - Parkdale United Church Ottawa, Ontario Canada- 450 seating - Cost Under $2,500.00
Now being rented as rehearsal space for members of the Ottawa Symphony
2002 - Emmanuel Pentecostal Christian Church, Montreal, Quebec - 600 seating  - Cost Under $4,000
2004 - East Pasco Seventh Day Adventist, Zephyrhills, Florida - Octagon Sanctuary, 500 seating - Cost Under $15,000
1999 - Indonesian Community Church, Toronto, Ontario Canada - Seating 500 - Cost under $8,000
2002 - First Baptist Church, Norman, Oklahoma  - Seating 1000 - Under $7,000
1995 - McElwain Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama, USA Seating 1200 - Under $8,000
1996 - St Paul's Anglican Church, Stroud, Ont. Canada - Seating 200 - Costing under $400.00
1999 - Waupaca Community Church, Applton/WaupacaWi, USA - Seating 350 - New Church - Under $15,000
2003 - Vineyard Church - Mundelein/Libertyville, IL USA - Seating 450 - Under $6,000
assistance and supervision by All Church Sound
1998 - Good Shepherd Church, Gloucester, Ontario, Canada - Seating 600 - Under $5000
1997 - First Independant Presbyterian Church, Sao Paulo - Brazil  - Seating 1200 - Cost under $1,000
1999 - First Presbyterian Church, Meaford Ontario Canada - seating 200 Cost under $1,200.00
2001 - Heritage Alliance Church, Windsor, Ontario Canada - Seating 700 - Cost under $8,500.00
1999 - Orleans Community Church, Orleans, Ontario Canada - seating 900 - Cost under $11,000
2003- St Bernard's Church, Keene, NH. USA  Seating 650 - Cost under $4,000.00

Fixing the acoustics shouldn't be expensive whether it's just to
control the room for a sound system or to make it like a concert hall.
It just needs to be done.
