Biography
Louise
Gabrielle has been in private practice since 1989. For the
past 18 years, she has studied and practiced both mind and
body therapies.
Her
eclectic background includes medical research, Certified Shiatsu
Therapy, psychotherapy, meditation, yoga therapy and energy
psychology (energy therapy).
Her ability
to combine counselling with hands-on energy healing techniques
is the unique foundation of her therapy service. Louise keeps
abreast of new developments in energy medicine and psychology
as well as continuing with her own personal growth, striving
always to provide the best quality therapy for her clients.
Her
training in psychotherapy included:
- Three-year
internship in psychotherapy at the Toronto Institute of
Human Relations, (now www.tirp.com ) which included training
in self-psychology, relational psychotherapy, Cognitive,
Gestalt and art therapies.
- Three-year
training in Mind-Body Therapy (i.e. body-focused psychotherapy
- Magraw Method) and psychodrama
Her training in Body Therapy included:
- Fifteen
years as a Certified Shiatsu Therapist, graduating with
distinction from the Shiatsu School of Canada
- Studies
in Craniosacral Therapy, Thai massage, Acupressure
Energy/Intuitive
training:
- Two-year
apprenticeship in energy psychology and energy therapy,
studying Therapeutic Touch, Reiki, Pranic Healing, Emotional
Freedom Technique (EFT) and other energy approaches.
- Intuitve
development group with Toronto consultant, Vincent Vanlimbeek
for seven years
Education
/ Work history
Louise
graduated from McGill University, Montreal in 1974 with a
degree in biology. She began her career working in cancer
and neonatal research for seven years, followed by a career
as a technical sales representative with a scientific equipment
company.
Professional
Memberships
Louise
has been a student of meditation and spiritual practices for
the past twenty-five years. This has included different forms
of Buddhist meditation and various styles of yoga, including
Iyengar, Scaravelli and Viniyoga. She has also studied Yoga
Therapy, one-on-one yoga instruction which adapts traditional
yoga poses to individuals with injury, illness or restricted
movement. Since 2003, Louise has been an active member of
the Gurdjieff Foundation (Toronto Gurdjieff Group), a tradition
involving meditation, self-study and sacred movements.
