Cognitive Therapy emphasizes the role that
our thoughts play in influencing our feelings and behaviour.
The focus is on discovering the nature of your thoughts and
uncovering the things you habitually repeat to yourself as
an inner dialog. In the process of identifying distorted and
self-defeating thoughts, clients are guided in finding self-affirming,
empowering ways of perceiving and thinking.
Mindful Therapy: A new way of relating to
experience
Mindful therapy involves a completely different way of relating
to problems. It teaches people a new mode of allowing things
to be just as they are, in order to see more clearly how best
to respond.
Mindful
Therapy shows people how reacting or fighting against unwanted
thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations can create more tension
and inner turmoil and that such attempts can reinforce a negative
attitude towards problems and towards themselves.
Mindful
therapy empowers people by teaching them how to be less reactive
and much calmer in dealing with life’s inevitable stresses
and challenges, bringing clarity and a sense of well-being
to everyday interactions.
Psychodrama is a form of expressive therapy.
Louise guides a client through a role-play of a personal problem
or life situation. This provides an opportunity for an individual
to explore their patterns of relating to others (and themselves)
and to practice / experiment with more effective behaviours.
Initially,
many people are intimidated with doing psychodrama. It’s
natural to feel self-conscious. Louise helps clients through
those feelings and before long, people are eager to engage
in this process.
Drawing & writing exercises can be done
by anyone - no artistic or writing skill is required. It offers
an opportunity to see on paper what is bouncing around on
the inside. This brings expanded clarity and engages the visual
/ intuitive brain for creative problem solving.
