Available Sizes
All our inks are supplied in 1 oz, 2oz, 4oz, 16oz, 32 oz and 128oz sizes.
A 1 oz size is sufficient to fill one of the colors of a HP57 cartridge approximately 6 times or a HP56 Black cartridge two times.
Ink Compatibility Charts
The tables list the ink formulation by cartridge. If the cartridge is a multicolored one, the inks that are required to fill that cartridge will be listed across the same row. Many customers will initially find the chart somewhat bewildering and may be surprised by the range of formulations. We called ourselves Precision Colors for that very reason. If you want an ink that is the PROPER ink for your printer you will find it here. We do not carry approximate colors because we are sure you want the correct ink and that is what we provide.
Ink Types
There are many types of inks but the majority of inks in cartridges fall into two categories; dye base inks and pigmented inks. Dye base inks can be said to "soak" into the paper whereas pigmented inks tend to "layer" on top of the paper. Pigmented inks are many times more expensive than dye base inks and are water resistant and much more fade resistant. Unfortunately, they are much more expensive than dye base and tend to be used by professional artists and photographers for their permanence as compared to dye based inks. Using pigmented inks on printers not designed for them is not generally recommended unless the user is aware of how to deal with the differences and the risk of printer clogging. Because of the high costs and maintenance issues, pigmented inks have tended to be used exclusively on the higher line printers but Epson has already begun migrating these inks down to the entry level types as well.
The inks we supply all match the type originally supplied with the printer. This is the only way to ensure that the printer matches the original color performance. Thus if a pigmented ink was originally supplied with the cartridge, that will be the refill ink type
Storage & Shelf Life
The ink shelf life is 2 years and should be stored preferably in a dark cool place. Never store ink in bright sunlight.
