APL Character Set and Browsers
Unicode

Contents | Previous | Next

Some effort has been made to create combined APL fonts, but the industry direction on fonts seems to be Unicode. If a browser supports Unicode, which presumabley would include APL characters, a person would write HTML pages accessing this character set on the font, and a user could could use their browser to display the APL characters in "default" mode, that is, without the need for additional downloads or "plug-ins".

Furthermore, if an APL interpreter supports Unicode, then a user could "cut and paste" the APL from the Web page into the window of this APL interpreter. Consult other APL vendor sites for the latest product information relating to their support for Unicode.)

A full APL "repetoire" exists inside Unicode. This is a detailed description on Lee Dickey's site, who remarks that in a sense this repertoire provides the one true "Atomic vector" that covers all APL implementations.
