I hope you know your story has no been forgotten and that Emily is the most beautiful strong little girl that a mother, father and brother could wish for. Although sometimes it is so hard to see through our pain nothing is ever in vain. I have been searching for some miracle to save this little girl that I have been praying for, her name is Emmalee and she is 5 months old. It is amazing how such young people can be so mature beyond our years and the lessons that they teach us everyday are remarkable. I can\'t wait to meet Miss Emily one day so she can show me her wisdom and guide me through the light. Thank you for sharing her story, I will never forget it. You see, I will make a difference in this world and these are the inspirational stories I can commit my life on. Life is to precious and we shouldn't waste a second of it, there is much to learn out of life and before you know it we will all be home again.

Thank you for your story of beautiful Emily! My now 17 year old was diagnosed a week after turning 16 and after 9 rounds of chemo lasting 3-5 days each and 3 surgeries and 28 days radiation she relapsed in Jan 09 right before her 17 birthday and had another 2 surgeries and has completed 3 rounds ad 23 day radiation. Delays have been the norm due to month long hospital stays from fevers or other complications. My daughter is Keisha Vernon and her diagnosis was stage 4 perphial nerve sheath rhabdoid tumors as well as normal rhabdoid in her ankle, groin and throughout her stomach. I just wanted tolet you know that I was recently diagnosed with Brain Cancer and I know what uyou may be going through... It scares me that I just buried my brother back in 2002 of this horrible disease, and I am strong and I will pull through this cause I have friends and family that care about me... To everyone that is going through leukaemia,

I know how you feel as whe i was 7 i got dianosied with Acute myeloid (myelogenous) leukemia (AML).I went throught all of it the good and the bad. I accidently found this site while Googling the word, Emily. I was transfixed and could not stop reading, hoping their would be a happy ending. Looking at those beautiful pictures and that smile that could warm the world I cannot stop crying. I lost a little girl, Faith in 2004 when she was one month old of congenital anomolies still undiagnosed and my Mom died just four months ago of a brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme at age 55. I'm just overwhelmed with love for this little girl, Emily who I've never met but I feel like I was there throughout her whole life. I'm so sorry you had to experience this pain and I wish Emily's spirit and life force a restful and peaceful time in Heaven (or whatever you believe) playing the playgrounds full of other babies that have gone too soon.

A Google search on Chemo Ice brought me to your site and your precious Emily. Tears fall as I read Emily's story. In reading Emily's story I can feel the love that surrounds her. You were so lucky to have her in your life as short as it was. No words can express the sorrow one feels when they lose someone they love. The one thing that keeps us going is the love we feel for each other. As time goes on and we heal we realize SORROW IS NOT FOREVER LOVE IS. I hope you don't mind this post but i wanted to say what an amazing girl your Emily was. I found your site by accident - I am an artist and was looking for information as i often do.

Some of you may recall a young lady by the name of Lindsay McKenzie who had written with the hopes of someone having knowledge of a rare brain cancer that she had been diagnosed with. Our son, Drew, left for heaven on October 22, 2003, a mere six weeks after his rhabdoid tumor diagnosis. He was 20 months old when he left. We have two older children who I pray will remember their sweet brother. Alec is about to be 6, so I think he will, but Katie is only 2, and I fear that she will not remember Drew. The three of them were the closest, most loving sibblings that I have ever seen and it hurts to see them missing their baby brother. My husband and I are struggling with missing Drew so badly. I recently have been diagnosed with a Rhabdoid tumor in my brain and had it surgically removed. My neural pathologists were especially puzzled because it is very unusual that it should occur in someone my age (I'm 18). I begin chemo in a week, and I'd greatly appreciate anyone who knows of a support group for this type of cancer or anywhere that I can get more information.

Dear Lester and Sylvie,
Strangely enough, I was hunting for some information regarding plugged port-a-caths (I am currently taking chemotherapy for breast cancer and we had some trouble with my port this morning at chemo). One of the links I found was your website about Emily. I was so captivated by her story, and rather shocked to see that today is her "Heaven Date" as we call it. You see, we lost our middle son, Nathan, in November, 1995 from a rare genetic disease (Menkes Disease). He was 14 years old, which was a surprise to everyone but us, his parents, because he was not supposed to live more than 2 years at the most. Every day was a blessing and a miracle.

I hope you are doing well. I know that we never recover from the loss of a child, and I think in particular a child with severe medical problems, because their lives become so enmeshed with ours through the intensity of the care they require. My husband says it took me about 5 years before I was really myself again...and actually neither of us will ever be who we were before Nathan, but we wouldn't want to be, either. Those years molded us into far better people, and gave us blessings we never would have imagined.

I'm so sorry Emily's little brother was not able to have more years with his sister...that is one of the things we continually prayed for with our children...we wanted them to be old enough to never forget Nathan. Our Emilie was 16 and her little brother Matthew was 12 when Nathan left us. The impact of his life will never leave them...they are much more compassionate and caring people than most other kids their age, and have grown into intelligent, dynamic young adults. I'm sure Emily's impact on David has had a lasting affect as well, and I know her memory is living on in your home and your hearts.

Please accept my condolences, and my appreciation for the opportunity to share in those years of her life through your website.

i'm glad that you have given me an inspriration for me.i have a friend who has a brain tumour and she might go any time.obviously i do not want her to go cause she means a lot to me.she understands me and sometimes i'm just wondering why she must go.she is only 17.why is GOD being so cruel to her?why are there illnesses?damn!!!

I have recently undergone major surgery and I am having bowel complications and I was researching the effects of microlax enemas.

I came acoss "Emily's Page" and I have spent the last hour reading every word and looking at the pictures of a gorgeous little girl. She really was a 'trooper' through her illness. I know that your lives have been blessed by her presence; be it only for 3 1/2 years.

How are you doing? I hope things are getting easier for you with each passing day.

I just needed to sign Emily's guestbook. I have two sons and I can't imagine the strength you, as parents, would need to get throught this. But it sounds as if Emily's approach to her illness made the reality of the situation a bit easier for you.

I also lost my nephew to a brain tumor 4/13/00. Unfortunatly we didn't have the help of Doctors. Justin went misdiagnosed for 7 mths with stomach pain and vomiting (the first signs of a brain tumor). We were told it was school phobia or the coming of a new sibling. When he could not walk or talk right, the tumor was found (it was missed in the first MRI). Justin went to Heaven at home with his family around him at the age of 8. He will be missed for ever and a day.

I have a friend who's son was just diagnosed with a Rhabdoid tumor. I can't even begin to imagine that a child could have to endure the pain of fighting such a terrible disease. I was on Sean McCauley's website, and saw Emily's address. I read your story. I sobbed and cried to God in prayer, and even as I write this email, I am hurting for your loss, and Emily who I never knew personally. What a beutiful face. As tears fill my eyes and sadness in my heart, I can not bear to imagine your pain. I have two children, one is 7 years old and the other is 19 months, both girls. There is no love like the love of a child. Can you imagine, if you had known that Emily would someday suffer with cancer and eventually loose her life? Then I remember, this is what our Lord felt, the day Jesus was born. He knew that this son of his would suffer and die. This is also why I know that our sadness, although unbearable to imagine, is finite. One day, as your time on earth en!

I'm so very sorry about the loss of your daughter, Emily. I don't know the pain of losing a child, but I understand the pain of losing a sibling all too well. I lost my 12 year old younger sister, Ashleigh in Oct., 1996. There will always be an empty space in my life and heart where her memory lives on. I will always miss her, everyday for the rest of my life.
I believe that when we connect with someone here on Earth, that our loved ones in Heaven connect with each other also. (or the other way around, which could be why we meet certain people in the first place.)

Hi. My son Benjamin also has a star on the Heavenly Lights Memorial. It saddens me so much when I see the amont if stars on that site. They seem to increase daily. I remember when Benjamin was only one of three stars.....now there are so many. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in November 1999, relapsed twice and went to heaven 8 August 2000. He was 18 months old and I will never ever understand why my baby and so many other children get cancer. It's horrible, so horrible. I don't know how we've survived nearly 5 months without Ben and how we're supoosed to live this entire new year without him. Losing a child is the worst thing in the world. People expect you to be "over" it just because a certain amount of time has elapsed. You know as well as I do that that is NOT the case. I will be missing Ben until the day I die, as I'm sure you will be with Emily. This is a lovely site and a wonderful tribute tyo your daughter. Jordyn had Acute Myeloid Leukemia, which is more commonly found in adults over 60 yrs old. How an almost 1 year gets such a wicked disease will forever puzzle me. It sounds like you have a lot of respect for the hospilt Emily was treated at, we have nothing but love and respect for the 3 hospitals Jordyn was treated at.

Hello, and Merry Christmas
This is our first Christmas without our angel Shad. I know he and Emily are playing in Heaven. I always thought Emily was a beautiful girl, and I always looked forward to seeing you guys at Sick Kids. Our Shad passed away Sept 5,2000, and I know the heartache you are feeling. I wanted to stop out and sign your guestbook and let you know that I am honored to have a star in memory of Emily on Heavenly Lights Childrens Memorial. I am so glad you found this site, and wanted to share her story with me and so many others. I know her story will touch the lives of others, as it did mine. She is just beautiful, and it breaks my heart when any family has to go through what you have. I am so sorry for your loss.
