    CRHA Niagara Division
    29th Annual Longest Day Celebration
  • The CRHA Niagara Division will be meeting for its 29th year in a row at
Laking Gardens Bridge for its Longest Day celebration on Friday, June 19.
This is held on the longest daylight Friday of the year, rain or shine.
A Friday is chosen to force those who work to take a day off for the love of trains.
In other words, keeners. We start after 5:30 am or so,
and have the camp stoves set up in the middle of the bridge by 6:30.
We serve bacon and eggs and coffee and tea to all comers,
whether you are a member of the CRHA or not, you eat. It's all free.
Each year we serve about 35 to 40 breakfasts.
Perhaps some of the CNR/CPR group might like to join us,
    or any other Froth reader.
  • If anyone would like to participate, please email
    Andy Panko at apanko@niagara.com
so he can make sure we have enough eggs, plates, cutlery, etc. on hand.
  • This year, after breakfast, we will head over to Hamilton West Junction,
to catch the eastbounds and maybe some CP, then westward, maybe Brantford,
Beachville, Woodstock, etc, ending up in Paris mid-afternoon.
  • Late lunch/early supper will be at Camp 31 in Paris, then looking for
some good late afternoon and sunset-time shots in the Paris area after that.
  • All welcome, just tell me so we can accommodate you for breakfast.....

    who say:
"Members of the Group of Seven believed that the true spirit of Canada could be found in its northern landscape. To gain access to the remote Algoma region, they rented a boxcar and outfitted it like a cabin. This "cabin" was their home while painting in the region between 1918 and 1923. Moving this accomodation to choice locations allowed the G7 artists to then set out on foot or by canoe to capture the beauty and ruggedness of this northern part of the country. Join in the celebration and follow in their tracks."
